Best Dj Controllers Of 2017
Today we decided to have a look around and decide what we believe to be the best DJ controllers available. If price is not too much of an issue, and you want top quality equipment, then look no further. We have compiled a list of the 5 best DJ midi controllers on the market at the moment. Some of these mixers have been around for a couple of years now, so you might bag a bargain if you shop about.
Kicking off this list with a name not necessarily associated with top end equipment. Numark’s NS7III looks an absolute beast. A 4 channel mixer built for Serato. Has 3 high-res screens with stackable waveform display. The NS7III is the only controller on the market today which offers motorized platters, which offers DJs a real turntable feel, making it ideal for scratching. 3-Way Touch Filter Knobs, Dedicated Hot Cue controls. Kill switches, Filter FX. Seriously, this is a beast.
As you would expect from Pioneer, the DDJ-SZ is top quality. The DDJ-SZ is the ultimate in four-channel dj controllers. Featuring the same size jog wheels found on the Pioneer CDJ-2000NXS. To look at this mixer, it kind of looks like 2 CDJ’s glued on to a standard Pioneer DJM-900. That is pretty much what you get too. Not only does this mixer work directly from Recordbox software, it also allows you to connect turntables or CDJs and use as a stand alone mixer. Its not the smallest of controllers available, so if you are traveling a lot then you will need to consider this.
Native Instruments make good gear. Their software is pretty damn good too. The Kontrol S8 follows on the S4 model, which was a fantastic bit of kit. This time it’s bigger and better. The S8 is a 4 channel mixer, which also allows you to hook up to external turntables or CDJ’s. The Kontrol S8 also offer DJs a whole new way of mixing by introducing Stems. Allowing full control over separate sections of the music. Allowing you to remix and mash-up on the fly. The Kontrol S8 also boast high-res touch screens built into the mixer. This allows you to close the laptop and play your whole set without lifting a finger away from the mixer.
Not your average Dj mixer. The Roland Dj-808 comes with the legendary Roland TR-808 drum machine sounds integrated within the mixer. Allowing you to layer beats over your music using the iconic step sequencer. Not only do you get all the original sounds from the old TR-808 models, the mixer also contains the sounds of the TR-909, TR-707 and TR-606 drum machines. This is on top of a solid 4 channel mixer, with all the trimmings you expect to find on top end mixers. Designed for Serato DJ.
The new MCX8000 is a robust piece of kit with 2, almost full size, CDJs, build onto a 4 channel mixer. 2 high resolution LED displays, 2 microphone inputs, 2 USB inputs for Djing without PC or Laptop. 8 trigger pads, and much more. It’s a bit on the larger side which means it might not be the best choice for DJs wanting to take their kit with them and plug in at the venue.
